Outreach

Outreach is a sales engagement platform. This profile covers what it does, how it is priced, and where it stops being the right choice.

What the product actually does

Outreach sequences outbound touches across email, phone and social, tracks whether each step happened, and reports on which sequences produce meetings. The sequencing engine is the core; the forecasting and conversation intelligence around it are the expansion.

The value over a shared inbox is state. A sequence knows which step a prospect is on, when the next touch is due and what happened on the last one, and it stops a rep from emailing someone who replied two days ago.

How pricing works once you are inside

Per seat, annually, with tiers that gate the analytics and the forecasting. The per-seat price is not the whole cost: the platform is usually bought alongside a data provider and a dialler, and the bundle is what the budget actually has to cover.

The negotiation lever is the seat count and the term. Discounts at fifty seats are materially deeper than at five, and the difference is worth asking about before signing at a small number.

Where it breaks down

Adoption. A sequencing tool only works if reps use it for every touch, and reps abandon tools that add clicks without adding meetings. The platforms that survive are the ones whose workflow is faster than the alternative.

Deliverability is also outside the tool's control. A sequence that sends from a domain with poor reputation will land in spam regardless of how well it is configured, and fixing that is a DNS and content problem.

What switching costs

High. Sequence definitions port as concepts, but the history, the analytics and the CRM integration behaviour are platform-specific.
